Tellme at Web 2.0 Expo

Microsoft-owned Tellme is doing some very interesting things in the area of voice - which some might say is the original “social medium”. At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, I checked out the demo of Tellme’s new software for BlackBerry, which is rather impressive. Just tell your phone what you want - say “Indian food”, for example, into the mouthpiece - and Tellme brings up listings for the businesses nearest you which fit the bill.
Some listings will also offer vouchers - what we Americans like to call coupons - as an incentive to follow the search with an actual transaction. I shudder to think how overwhelming the results for such a search would be if one were to conduct it while stood in the middle of Brick Lane!
After the jump, video of Marci Pedrazzi from Tellme giving a rundown on how marketers might think about integrating voice-based search into their overall marketing mix.
