Vinnie Lauria: Bullish on online advertising

Vinnie Lauria moved from New York to San Francisco in 2005 as a co-founder of Meetro. In true start-up style, the company once had eight people stuffed into the 3-bedroom flat where the site was founded and developed.

In early 2006, Vinnie founded the Silicon Valley New Tech event. His showcase of start-ups now boasts more than 2000 members who show up on the first Tuesday of every month to scope out new ideas, press the flesh and wheel and deal. It is a must-attend event for those focused on the future of the web.

Yesterday, I had a chat in San Francisco with Vinnie about his perspective on what’s exciting him in the space of advertising start-ups (Adroll), whether he thinks there are too many companies whose business models rely on online advertising, and whether global economic conditions will burst the current bubble engulfing Silicon Valley. You might be surprised by his take on things – I certainly was.
