The joy of search …(in ecommerce)
The latest issue of Retail Systems magazine features an article by Latitude’s director of Partnerships and Affinities, Martin Cozens, on the joy of search in e-commerce.
As Martin says, you might think search is one area e-tailers have nailed, such has been the success of online shopping, but of course it’s consumers who are in the search driving seat. “They might start out looking for something specific but as often as not people just search for fun”, he writes.
Turning to social networks, Martin reckons it’s a brave and bold e-tailer who decides to step into these new virtual worlds, where to be thought of as ‘naff’ could be the worst possible fate for brands and products. As for those who bury their heads in the sand and try to ignore the rise of ‘Web 2.0’, his verdict couldn’t be more concise: they’re barmy.
