Amazon launches Yahoo! Answers clone

By Admin  in News |Search Expertise

Amazon has moving into the space that Google has recently left by creating its own Answer portal. Called Askville it will work in the same manner; the press release from the main blog outlines its main functionality

As a valued Amazon customer, you’ve been specially picked to get an early look at a new website Amazon has just launched called Askville. Askville is a place where you can ask any question on any topic and get real answers from real people. It’s a fun place to meet others with similar interests to you and a place where you can share what you know.

You can learn something new every day or help and meet others using your knowledge. It’s new, and best of all, it’s free!

The site has been live for a week now and two most popular categories on Askville are “Amazon” and “Amazon customer service”; so its base seems to be Amazon users. The tricky balance of placing your brand in your customers’ hands can have a strangely positive effect - read how Burger King went about this.
