Chris Yeh on the commercial applications of online video

The Latitude-sponsored party held Monday night at the British Bankers’ Club in Silicon Valley was a fantastic event, described by one attendee as “the best kind of mixer, where there was no such thing as a usual suspect, just lots of fascinating individuals making fizzy connections”. Partiers came from Google, Yahoo, Newsgator, Qik, Ustream, PBWiki, Triggit, powerhouse VC firm Canaan Partners and a variety of other notables in the marketing and media space. Even the elusive founder of Techmeme, Gabe Rivera, graced us with his presence for a few hours. (Many thanks to the industry’s favourite tabloid, Valleywag, for telling their readers about the event, too!)
One of our guests, Chris Yeh, is the former CEO of online video market leader Ustream and still advises the Ustream board of directors. He and I re-connected today to have lunch. During our conversation, I expressed to him my disappointment at how poorly some industry execs answered my question about the commercial applications for online video. “Oh, I have a great answer for that!” Chris exclaimed.
