Google goes green(ish), loses health chief

Following up from Jon Myers’ article on the environmentally sound nature of online vs offline retail, I could not help but note the latest development in Google’s efforts to be more “green” than its media competitors.
The search giant wants to invest up to £5 million in ecologically-conscious start-ups, with £250k - £1 million earmarked for electric or hybrid transport innovators.
There is no word yet from Google on how environmentally friendly it is to shun commercial airlines for a corporate jet parked at an exclusive NASA-run airport.
It is probably not an orchestrated PR move, but this news is a convenient distraction from the breaking story that the head of the hotly anticipated Google Health product, Adam Bosworth, has decided to abandon ship and will leave Google after returning from holiday. Perhaps Bosworth saw one of Facebook’s ads aimed at poaching Google employees when he logged into his account…
