Is the Live Search Club working in the US?
By Jon Myers, Director Of Search in Search Engines |Google |Microsoft
According to the latest market survey from Complete, MSN/Live Search received a great upturn in the US for volume of queries after launching a game site that makes players use Live Search to gain points. In the June 2007 numbers, Microsoft’s search sites moved from 8.4 percent in May to 13.2 percent in June.
The general consensus is that the Live Search Club could be behind the jump. Complete said that there was no reference to traffic from club.live.com in April, a third of a million in May but it then shot up to over 3 million unique visitors in June 2007.
Live Search Club offers a simple concept, Play games, search with Live to find the answers, earn tickets, win prizes. The key now will be for Microsoft to retain these uses and convert them into regular Live Search users rather than Google users who still hold 62.7% of the US market but this is down from the 67% of May.
