Latitude Discovery Roadshow: Gibraltar
By Jackie Danicki - Blogger in Events |Latitude Discovery Roadshows |Marketing |Online Sales |Search Expertise
We were blessed with sunny, warm(ish) weather yesterday when Latitude held our inaugural Discovery Roadshow in Gibraltar.
The day was all about showing online gaming companies how they can improve their customer acquisition and retention. On hand we had:
- Bridget Morrow of Foviance - a merger of The Usability Company and Web Abacus - demonstrating how maximum usability can drastically, positively affect online sales. Bridget has done a great deal of work with online gaming companies, and so had loads of great examples of good and bad usability in online gaming applications.
- Steven Garrett of Miva, who discussed contextual advertising for gaming companies, with a case study of Miva’s work with Dennis Interactive’s Poker Player online magazine.
- Rachelle Boehm of Overture was on hand to talk about the latest Overture/Yahoo developments, including dynamic customised solutions and mobile search, and how online gaming companies can make the most of them.
- Yours truly, putting on my engagement marketing evangelism hat to discuss conversational markets, blogging, podcasting, and RSS for online gaming.
The attendees told us they learned a lot from our presentations, reflecting as they all did the importance of bringing companies closer to their individual customers. This is as important in online gaming as in any other industry. The gaming niche is a booming one, and those who are drawn to it can be cultivated very effectively for fruitful, long term relationships. The conversations we had yesterday only emphasised that.
Our venue for the day was the Eliott Hotel, a fine venue whose website does not do it justice. Special thanks to Jennie Sage and her team at the Eliott, who were very accommodating and made sure that we had a superb lunch from the hotel’s chef in their rooftop restaurant, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. We’ll be back in Gib soon, so if you’d like to see us there, drop me an email or give me a call on 0207 395 2809.
