MIVA Pay Per Call is No More?

By Jon Myers, Director Of Search  in Search Engines |Google |Miva |Search Technology

I’m all for positive thinking but reading yesterday’s New Media Age story on Miva’s pay-per-call network, giving more insight into the decision for MIVA to stand down this particular product, I can’t see it being enough to prevent the service from closing completely before the year is out?

It’s to their credit that Miva is maintaining service for existing pay-per-call users, but I wonder if this is just a way to buy time while they try to conceive an alternative.

As it is, Miva’s decision to decline new pay per call business leaves search engine marketers with no pay Per Call product to offer. As currently Google is also ‘reviewing’ their offering with a view to a re-launch at some point later this year.

It is believed that MIVA don’t anticipate any other products to be to be effected in anyway. Why pay per call has failed to take off in the UK it is hard to say, but cultural differences must be a factor. BT once told us it’s good to talk. Maybe so, but not if you don’t have to.
