Search to hit $11.1 billion in five years

According to new findings published by JupiterResearch, online advertising budgets will hit $25.9 billion - nearly nine per cent of total US ad spend - in 2011. Further:

[P]aid search is the primary driver of growth in the online advertising market. Search advertising overtook display advertising in 2005 and will continue to be the largest online advertising component over the next five years.

It is also anticipated that search will increase from 41 percent of all online ad spend ($6.5 billion this year) to 43 percent. That’s $11.1 billion of search spend by 2011.

While these are US figures, they are clearly indicative of UK trends as well. (Yet another reason why Latitude is on such an intense recruitment drive.)
