The £53.3 billion question
By Jackie Danicki - Blogger in Marketing |News |Online Sales |PPC |SEO
I blogged last month about America’s “Cyber Monday”, that post-Thanksgiving day when the US’s workforce heads back to their employers’ computers and gets much of their holiday shopping done and dusted. Well, the Yanks obviously don’t have the monopoly on such traditions, as Brits proved yesterday in simply staggering numbers.
IMRG expected online sales in the UK to reach £370 million on Monday - treble the sales netted at the same time in 2006. The peak period was anticipated to be between the hours of 11AM and midday (hmm, wonder why!), with revenues topping nearly £32.5 million during that window alone.
Further, IMRG is predicting that web sales for 2007 will increase by more than £20 billion. (Yes, billion.) They anticipate that online retail revenues will hit £53.3 billion total this year.
How is your company making sure that your products and services are being found - and bought - online by the millions of potential customers who are searching for them at this most lucrative time of year? With tens of billions of pounds on the table to win or lose, it’s worth putting your search strategy to the test in order to ensure you’re reaping as much of the rewards available as possible.
