National Business Awards

No we didn’t beat the Chicago Bulls, the Minnesota Timberwolves or even Utah Jazz. Would have been nice but I’m not talking about the Basketball NBA.  Last week saw Latitude win two (North West)National Business Awards (the NBAs or the “Oscars of the Business world” according to our PM Brown no less) at the Regional Finals.  We’re honoured and have fingers tightly-crossed on winning the overall UK awards later this year.

But “so what” you might think?

Before I go into why I think it’s good news for you, I’ve really got to tell you what we did win.  The first award was the 3i Growth Strategy of the Year where businesses were judged on organic growth (as opposed to M&A) in sales, profit and market share.  Below a picture of Julie Moran, CFO, receiving this award.

We also picked up the Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year award where Latitude CEO, Dylan Thwaites was chosen as the individual who best demonstrated “exceptional vision and leadership…(with) clear identification of a market opportunity, innovation, growth and strong financial performance.”

“So good for you but what difference does that make to me?” you’d be forgiven for thinking. Well “organic growth” and “innovation” I would offer back.  There is still very much an entrepreneurial spirit within Latitude that makes us to look at new ways of helping clients.  Our growth allows us to do that through innovation. This takes many forms. From the specialist role in Loss Prevention that produces significant and increasing client returns to advances in our bespoke software COBRA to our SME offering Latitude White.

This continued entrepreneurial drive is one of the reasons that Latitude is now being used as a case study by the London Business School.  Click here to see a video of Keith Willey, Associate Professor & Executive Director at the London Business School, providing insight into what entrepreneurial companies have to offer with reference to Latitude.
